Hôtel du Vieux-Québec

Hôtel du Vieux-Québec

All rooms have a view of ancient Quebec and have either solid mahogany or maple furniture and are decorated with reproductions of paintings by famous Quebec artists. Hôtel du Vieux Québec also offers a complimentary continental breakfast basket delivered to the door each morning, free high-speed wireless Internet and a complimentary walking tour of Old Quebec in the summer.

The friendly, helpful, bilingual staff will be more than happy to point the way to the many historic sites and monuments - all of which are just a short walk away. Reviews of this hotel often mention the spaciousness and quality of the deluxe rooms, which are offered at a very competitive rate.

I would just like to tell you that our stay with you was amazing. From feeling like we had the best room in the house to the hospitality. Internet, movies, popcorn to providing advise on the best places to see. Kim helped us most often and she was pleasant and always had the time for us. I will recommend your hotel to others. Quebec is a beautiful city that all Canadians should experience. Why leave the country when you can experience this heritage and history. Thank you... We hope to be back soon :)

We were recently given a surprise gift for our 25th anniversary, 4 days/nights in Quebec. Our daughter had made all arrangements but we did briefly see the hotel website before leaving for the trip. After a lengthy train trip, we couldn't have been happier once we arrived at the hotel. We stayed in one of the Superior rooms and it could not have been better. We had all the needed conveniences and a breakfast basket to get the morning off to a good start. The Hotel is in a prime location, within walking distance of all Old Quebec attractions. The staff inquired as to what would interest us and suggested many sites, restaurants and pubs based on that. All suggestions were spot on. Staff was excellent in every way imaginable. We have already recommended this hotel to many friends and colleagues and when we return to Quebec we will look forward to staying at Hotel Du Vieux Quebec.

What a great place! We stayed in room 306 last week and I have to say, I was most impressed with your hotel. The room, meh, it was nice, but the service we received was second to none. From giving us the rundown of what was going on in Quebec to the restaurant on the main level. Free DVD rentals in case of a rainy night, the place was simply AMAZING! The location is fantastic as well, you walk out on to the street and you are in the middle of EVERYTHING! I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to feel in the middle of it all while still being able to take a break. Oh, and thank you so much for the Maplebutter and Chocolate Croissants! SOOO GOOD!!!

You can't get any better!! This charming hotel is in the best location within the walls of Old Quebec which you should stay in. The service is genuine and extremely helpful in all areas. The rooms spacious, very clean and the breakfast included is so European style, nice touch! I can't say enough, I am very fussy and like details, this hotel is it from all angles, staff, rooms, service, location. I truly can't wait to go back. Thank you Pierot and Geoffrey - your service outstanding!!!

We spent three nights at the hotel and couldn’t have been happier. The staff was marvelous, very helpful and always pleasant. The room was charming , a mix of old and new and the fresh basket of goodies in the morning meant that we could eat at our pleasure. We were quite impressed with the ecological measures the hotel has put into place, such as no plastic bottles, real dishes and glassware etc. Oher hotels could benefit from their example.. The location of the hotel was convenient , an easy walk to the Place D’Armes, and the neighborhood seemed safe. The Ecolobus stop was just across the street. All in all we’ would love to return for a future stay.

That place is a must and its star rating is well earned! Upon arriving we were greeted and promptly given the keys to our room. When we asked info about the coming attraction " les Fêtes de la Nouvelle-France" we were given a map with writen instructions as to where to go, the best places to be for certain shows, the times of said shows. The room was spotless and confortable... and later, when there was a failure with an equipment in the room, someone came right away to see to the probleme and we were rapidly given a new room. Everything was done and made available for us to have a confortable and pleasant stay and I have not yet even mention to you those lovely "breakfast-baskets"!...

Extremely friendly, claen and comfortable. Within steps of great restaurants and in the heart of old Quebec City. We could not have asked for a better experience. Free DVDs to borrow. They thought of everything to make our stay a great one. We can’t wait to go back.

This hotel is on a fairly busy street in Old Quebec, yet our room - facing the street on the 3rd floor - was amazingly quiet. (It was hot so we were usually using some AC, which probably factored into the quietness.) You can walk out the door and have your choice of amazing restaurants (try the nice Moroccan one through the archway directly across the street) and all of the attractions such as tours, street performers, etc. The staff was very nice. They leave breakfast for you outside your room (in a lovely basket), and the pastries are good, but the nasty fruit cocktail is, well, nasty, and you can just skip the industrially-bland in-room coffee. Prices are a bit too high for the size of the room, but prices are all high in Old Quebec in the summer.

This hotel was intimate with a very nice lounge and a bustling restaurant downstairs. It is situated in the heart of old Quebec, upper town, a couple of blocks below the Chateau Frontenac. Although the area was lively our room was at the back and very quiet. Staff was bilingual and helpful. The hotel also provided a guided walking tour at no charge (other then the tip) with a very pleasant and knowledgeable guide. It’s worth the hour and a half to get your bearings and learn about the upper town (tour didn’t go to the lower town). Only small problems: at check-in our room safe did not work but was soon fixed. Our in-room refrigerator also did not work and was never fixed.

Right at the heart of Old Quebec yet so peaceful. Spotlessly clean and the staff are so friendly and helpful. Breakfast lovely too. Prices a little higher than other cities for what you get but this is Quebec so this place gives good value. Don't waste your money on the Chateau Frontenac (which imo is a bit of a monster). There is a free walking tour of the old parts (about an hour & a half) which gives a good intro. Incidentally this is the only hotel we've visited in Canada that has a secure network so you can use the internet securely as well as for free. We're so glad we chose this hotel and have no hesitation in fully recommending it.

"top choice in a top spot” L'Hotel du Vieux Quebec I booked this hotel because of Trip Advisor reviews and I was not disappointed. The location is outstanding, right in the middle of everything. I am glad I did not book a hotel in the Lower City. It is too touristy. Or course Old Quebec within the walls (where this hotel is located) is entirely touristy as well, and I doubt any 'real' Quebecois live in the walled city. But Lower Town seemed just too 'Las Vegas' to me. Each room in this building, which seems to have been converted from several small homes or shops, is unique. Sure beats staying at a 'cookie-cutter' room in a hotel chain. Our room on 3rd floor was really spacious and quiet even though it was on the main street. Good bed and bathroom. Huge TV. Breakfast was stylishly presented in a picknic basket in our room each morning. Staff went out of their way to be helpful. Appreciated use of the free internet in the lounge. This hotel felt like home, very cosy and welcoming after a long day pounding the pavement in this most romantic of cities (after Paris).

Wow! I recently stayed in this wonderful hotel with my wife and five children. We loved the warm feeling of home that the staff emits throughout the hotel. The rooms were spacious clean and very comfortable, The continental breakfast was a real treat of delicious Patisserie and other nibbles that gave a european flair to the beginning of each day. My youngest loved the DVD movies & player and complimentary popcorn. The central location of Hotel du Vieux Quebec is ideal for walking around Quebec City. We brought our skates and enjoyed the ice rink just a short walk from the hotel. The nearby parking was convenient and easy. All in all we miss how well we were treated and we will keep the hotel in our memories until we return in the future. Bravo!

Stayed in Old Quebec for the weekend. A blizzard came through and we ended up having to stay another night because the entire airport shut down. The hotel was very nice and very accommodating. The location is great, a very short walk to everything. The breakfast in the morning is a great touch too. They all recommended several restaurants, all of which were very good.

The late October weather outside was miserable, windy rain and 34 degrees, but we got another warm welcome at L'Hotel du Vieux Quebec. Since we had been there before, it was much easier to find on the twisted streets within the old walled section of town. Hint - unload your bags on the one-way street next to the hotel and then park in the underground City Hall lot across the street. Once again, we traveled with our pooch - she loves the front desk staff who always give her a treat! Our room on the third floor overlooked the street and was in one of the dormers you see from the front view of the hotel. The ceilings sloped down a bit, but the view was nice and the street noise not objectionable. If you are new to Quebec the guided walking tour is highly recommended; our guide was both knowledgeable and very personable. Old town is a fabulous spot to walk and sightsee. The ferry from Bas Ville across the river is a fun ride, especially at night when the cliffs are illuminated. If you do get tired walking, take the funiculaire back up to Haute Ville! Also, take a short drive east of town to visit Montmorency Falls and the Cathedral of St. Anne du Beaupre. They are well worth the trip. We love old Quebec - like going to France except you can drive there.

We stayed at Hotel du Vieux Quebec for 4 nights over New Year, and were very pleased with the experience. The location is fantastic - right in the centre of everything - and the hotel is charming. Our room was larger than I'd expected, complete with a sofa/coffee table seating area and a spacious bathroom. All spotlessly clean. A breakfast basket outside the door each morning was well received. The front desk staff couldn't have been more helpful. All in all, a definite 'will return'! Also, don't miss the great cafe/bistro on the premises. It isn't owned by the hotel but is a great spot for casual (and very French) lunch or dinner.

We stayed at Hotel Du Vieux Quebec for 4 days at the beginning of the year. The hotel was very much what we expected from the prior reviews. It is centrally located in Old Quebec near much of the shopping, restaurants and taverns. We liked this area better than the larger hotel (Grande-Allee Avenue) areas which seemed to cater to American tourists, whereas our hotel seemed to have Canadian tourists on holiday. Our room size was average (2 adults, 1 child) and was in good repair. Bathroom was average size with plenty of towels and toiletries. The breakfast basket on the door is an excellent touch and really separates this hotel from others. My child loved it. The front desk personnel were extremely professional/helpful and where always ready to give recommendations and directions. We would definetly stay here again. Bruce, Chicago

Nice location The hotel is located in the center of old Quebec City. Location is very convenient for walking around, although parking was expensive and driving can be confusing within the old city walls. Overall, I would return and would recommend it over other places I have been to in QC.Christine P from Vineyard Haven, MA recommends this hotel

Definitely the Quebec City’s Best Hotel This hotel could not be more conveniently located. It is close to the best attractions of the city. I left my car in the parking (across the street) and walked to all the places I wanted to be. The quality of service I received by the staff of the hotel was really high. The "included" High Speed Internet service was definitely a good thing. When I come back this year to come (400th anniversary of the city) this would be the hotel to stay in.
