We had a wonderful stay here at the L'Esplanade. The location is ideal right at the front gate entrance into the walls of quebec City. The hotel was within walking distance to everything from the Funiculaire to the Citadel. We felt very at home in our spacious room with a wonderful view of the front gate. The owners of the hotel were very friendly. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here while visiting Quebec City.

We stayed two nights at Manoir de l'Esplanade in Québec city with my girl friend and we certainly can recommend it. The staff is friendly and helpful, the hotel is clean, the continental breakfast is good. On top of this the location is excellent within the old city. We stayed in a room facing the courtyard with one queen size bed. The room or bathroom weren't very big, but clean and otherwise good. We asked for a quiet room and got one. The free internet in the lobby helped us plan our trip onwards from Québec city. This hotel is an excellent choice if you want a nice small hotel, with good value for money and a central location

After doing much research on tripadvisor I booked this hotel based on the price and great reviews! I am happy to say I was very satisfied. Just outside the front entrance you'll see the old gates and a beautiful park, and down the street in any direction is either the Citadel, the Old Fort Wall, numerous restaurants and cafes, Chateau Frontenac and Lower Town. The furnishings are simple, but the rooms very spacious and the continental breakfast was great and well stocked. Fabulous stay!

Overall, we didn't feel that this property provided the value we expected of a "boutique" hotel in this price range. In fact we did not find it to be a boutique hotel. However we would like to qualify this opinion - we have not stayed in other hotels in Quebec City so have no point of comparison. FIrst the good - the place is spotless and the owners are really nice people. As well it is in a good location within the walls of the old city (although we would stay in either Petit Champlain or Vieux Port areas for better ambiance next time). One other very good thing ... the bed was first rate. On the downside, we just didn't feel this hotel delivered for the price tag. We were paying $175 (taxes included) for a "deluxe" room that had two beds and room for little else (and there wasn't anything else!). The heating system had no controls, the TV was a 20" CRT on a plywood shelf and metal brackets high up in the corner, artwork in the room was an afterthought, the towels were small and thin, and room supplies were meager (no Kleenex, shampoo only, disposable drinking glasses, etc.). The hotel website is highly complementary vs. what you get. One additional concerning thing ... there was no security locks on the door. Breakfast followed the same theme. While there was plenty of food, everything was low budget. Styrofoam coffee cups and disposable juice glasses, apples that looked like they came off a backyard tree, bulk cereal serving devices, bus your own tables, etc. Our next trip back to Quebec City we will try somewhere else. If we find that this is the standard to expect for this price range in this city, then we will return to this place because of the cleanlines and the very nice owners
