Hôtel Dominion 1912

Hôtel Dominion 1912

Hôtel Dominion 1912 is in good company in the historical Old Port district, with excellent restaurants, art galleries, museums and antique dealers located nearby. The combination of classic architecture and contemporary design creates a warm and elegant atmosphere for our guests. Opened in 1997, this establishment is the second boutique hotel owned by Groupe Germain. Our guests appreciate our efforts to ensure their stay is memorable, such as the comfortable sofas in the lounge, beautifully decorated rooms, free deluxe continental breakfast and free espresso bar open around the clock.

This is a lovely hotel away, I can't say enough good things about it. The location is wonderful- in the lower city, away from the noisy and touristy upper city but still close to things. The room was beautiful and relaxing- dark and modern decor, very quiet. Service was top notch. Breakfast was a treat and no matter how many guests were in the hotet, we always felt like we were the only people there.

chose to book my stay via phone because I had some questions about getting to the hotel from the train station. I made my reservations without any problem and was told that the hotel was a short walk from the hotel. It was and truth be told, you can practically walk everywhere in the old city! My husband and I stayed for 3 night and truly enjoyed almost every aspect of the hotel! The room (503) was clean, sleek and comfortable. Soft music and mood lighting greeted us upon walking into the room. We had a pretty view of the St. Lawrence river and the city of Levis. The continental breakfast served each morning was really fresh, tasty and satisfying. And the coffee bar as just out of sight! The machine makes everything even decaf selections. There is ample sitting/lounging space and a large cozy fireplace for guests in the main lobby. The hotel staff was very helpful with sightseeing questions and restaurant suggestions. This brings me to my only issue - we asked the hotel staff to recommend a restaurant that was very casual, tasty, and close to the hotel. They recommended a popular cafe a short walk from the hotel. Upon arriving to the suggested restaurant, my husband and I immediately felt under dressed, not to mention the prices were pretty steep. Now, we didn't request an inexpensive option, but that just made it more annoying. Anyway we left the restaurant and ended up finding a really nice, inexpensive and VERY casual diner type place 1 block away from the hotel. We ate there and it was one of our favorite meals in Quebec City. I don't know why the hotel staff didn't recommend this place. This issue is minor and shouldn't detour anyone from staying here. Perhaps be very specific when requesting restaurant options or just do some research online and figure it out on your own. The city is very touristy and every restaurant claims it's the best (which isn't true) so just be careful.

We were initially interested in the Hotel Dominion because it received such a high rating on trip advisor (and the price was right!), but soon realized that we'd loved our stay at their sister hotel (Germain in Toronto) several years ago. So, we booked a week at the Dominion for just after Christmas, through New Years. Our visit was spectacular! To name a few of the delightful details: 1. Soft music playing on our Bose radio in our room when we arrived. 2. There was a card addressed to us on the bed when we got there, welcoming us to the Dominion and to QC. 3. All you can drink espresso machine in the lobby (as well as Mighty Leaf teas and regular coffee, cappucino) 4. Fantasic concierge staff (Annie Karin, Simon, Estelle and Guillaume) who helped us with dinner reservations, outings (try dog sledding) and really helped us out of a bind when our shuttle left the ski mountain without us on the return. 5. Champagne toasts and a special gift in our room on New Year's Eve 6. Aveda bath supplies in our room 7. Wonderful view of the St. Lawrence River from our window. 8. Comfy, comfy bed! 9. Great breakfast buffet (included) 10. Fantastic lounge with cozy couches and a large stone fireplace, shelf of magazines, books and games. In addition to all of these things, check-in and check-out were a breeze and the hotel couldn't be more convenient to everything Quebec City has to offer. This was a fantastic hotel in a beautiful city!! Highest of recommendations to the Dominion. We will be back. :)
