The location is right across from the Chateau. You can see it from your window. In between is a beautiful little park. In October, the colours of the maple trees are very nice. There are several other Hotels next to this one if you want to see them too before y ou decide. Parking is a bit of a problem. There are only a few spots on the street in front of the hotel. Overnight is free but during the day you get ticketed for parking too long. Instead you have to park about 1.5 blocks away and that costs approx. 20$ Canadian each day. The room we stayed in was called the "Romantic". It is a small room. Very quiet. Larger bathroom that is updated and clean. The room has a nice marble fireplace (not working) and one of the walls is brick which all makes it very romantic and cosy. There is a TV there with lots of channels. Coffee is good. The location is ideal. Right near the boardwalk along the St.Lawrence. About 5 minutes from the shopping streets of Old Quebec. Also same for the restaurants. The price was very very good too.

I have stayed at Manoir sur-le-Cap a couple of times, most recently for New Year's 2008, and I think it is a very good choice in the Old City. The price might be a bit above the market for this level of accommodation, but if so, it is not by much, and Quebec is a pretty reasonably priced city anyway. Both rooms I stayed in had old stone walls and wood floors, but completely refurbished bathrooms. Both rooms had beautiful views of the Chateau Frontenac across the park. The rooms were pleasantly decorated, and the staff was generally helpful. I would offer a couple of things to be aware of, which are not really criticisms of what I think is a fine property. First, this is not a traditional bed-and-breakfast. There really is no breakfast or coffee at the inn--you are pretty much on your own. And although Manoir sur-le-Cap is very near the Chateau Frontenac and the Boardwalk, there are not many bakeries, coffee shops, etc., in the immediate area to provide one with a reasonably priced bite to eat and caffeine injection in the morning. This is especially a concern in winter when the temperatures are in the single digits outside and you want to stay in bed. Second, this inn does have an excellent location for the Old City. This is both good and bad. The Old City is charming but very touristy. I think one will get a more authentic feel of Quebec if he walks west beyond the walls on Rue St.-Jean and Rue St.-Louis, where the proportion of locals is much higher, and there are just as many great restaurants. I think that is worth considering if you care about getting a real feel for this fantastic city, and it is probably where I will try to stay on my next visit. But if you do decide to stay in the Old City, Manoir sur-le-Cap is a very good option.
