Le Cochon Dingue

Le Cochon Dingue

This restaurant is a veritable local institution. Québec City’s favourite little piggy for over 30 years! Décor highlights the old stone walls. Specialities of the house include its famous breakfasts, steak and fries platter, spare ribs, mussel duo and sinfully delicious desserts. Parisian terrace open when weather permits.

A great place to come in and have a warm soup and sandwich. The most famous sandwich in Quebec is the croque-monsieur, which is an open-faced ham and melted cheese sandwich. I had the most delicious one here along with an almost clear chicken soup. The bistro serves lunch and dinner in a casual, fun atmosphere.

Another of my personal favorites in Quebec...you HAVE to have breakfast here at least once - then come back later for dessert! There are three of these around the city, but this one's the best. Breakfast portions are huge, and not unreasonable in terms of price - just make sure you get the hot chocolate. It's the best I've ever had! Almost everything is made in-house, from the jams (delicious) to all of the baked goods (sinful). Lunch and dinner tend to be more crowded, and not as budget-friendly, but make sure to come back for some dessert. Their pies, especially the sugar pie, are outstanding. Quebec's finest!
