The Citadelle/Royal 22e Régiment Museum

The Citadelle, also called the Gibraltar of America, is a national historic site located on Cape Diamant. Its distinctive, star-shaped layout is characteristic of Vauban fortifications. Construction on the Citadelle began in 1820 and lasted for thirty years. The site is open to visitors during guided tours of the museum dedicated to the Royal 22e Régiment (also known as the Van Doos). Military ceremonies held during the summer.
